During account registration and onboarding, we collect your:

Email Address (academic/institutional domain preferred)
Mobile Phone Number

B. Academic Information

To verify credentials and match you with relevant recruitment criteria, we collect:

College / University Name
Department and Branch of Study
Graduation Year
CGPA or academic grades (optional, used for eligibility matching)

C. Uploaded Documents

You may choose to upload documents to customize your profile and share preparation materials:

Profile Photo
Resume (PDF format)
User-Generated Content: Placement experiences, interview questions, study guides, notes, and reference sheets.

D. Payment Information

When subscribing to premium features, transaction amounts and statuses are processed exclusively through secure, RBI-regulated third-party payment gateways. College Sathi does not store or process card numbers, CVV codes, net banking passwords, or UPI PINs on our servers.

E. Device and Technical Information

When you visit or navigate the website, we automatically log basic metadata:

Internet Protocol (IP) address
Browser type and version
Operating System (OS) details
Page visit timestamps, session duration, and navigation routes.

F. Cookies

4. User Generated Content Policy

College Sathi enables users to upload study resources, notes, question sheets, and placement reviews.

User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for all files, text, and documents you upload. You warrant that you hold the intellectual property rights to the uploaded resources and that they do not contain confidential corporate assessment questions or copy-protected assets.
Content Review: We reserve the right to review, moderate, and permanently delete any user-generated content that violates copyright laws, contains offensive remarks, or compromises the confidentiality of third-party company hiring criteria.

5. Firebase Storage and Cloud Security

All uploaded document files, including student resumes, notes, and profile pictures, are stored securely using Firebase Storage (managed by Google Cloud). We apply strict security rules and access tokens to ensure that raw file URLs are not publicly indexed or exposed to unauthorized search engine crawlers. Only authenticated users or verified members of our student community can access these resource repositories.

6. Payment Processing Security

Premium subscriptions on College Sathi are handled via secure, integrated third-party payment gateways. These services are PCI-DSS compliant and utilize industry-grade encryption.

All financial transactions are governed by the respective gateway's terms of service and privacy policy. We strongly advise reviewing their privacy disclosures before completing any financial transactions.

7. Cookies and Analytics

We collect traffic and user activity logs via cookies and Google Analytics:

Persistent and Session Cookies: Used to keep you logged into the portal and to persist your light/dark theme preference across sessions.

10. Data Security

Databases are firewalled, and access is restricted to essential Spring Boot backend API controllers.
Regular security reviews are conducted to prevent SQL injections, cross-site scripting (XSS), and unauthorized data leaks.

While we apply industry-standard security measures, no electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your transmission data.

11. Data Retention

We retain your personal, academic, and document files for as long as your student account remains active on College Sathi. Once your account is closed or deleted, we purge your data from our active databases and cloud storage within standard retention periods, unless retention is legally mandated.

12. User Rights

Under the Indian DPDP Act, 2023, and global standards, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access: You can request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: You can edit and update your academic details, mobile number, name, and resume at any time via your account profile settings.
Consent Withdrawal: You can withdraw your consent to data processing, which may limit your access to specific verified placement features.
Account & Data Deletion request: You have the right to request that your account and all associated personal records be permanently deleted.

🗑️ How to Request Data Deletion:
To request permanent deletion of your account and all associated personal data (including resumes and profile entries), you can:

Navigate to your in-app Account Settings page and click "Delete Account", or
Send an email request from your registered address to collegesathi10@gmail.com.

Upon request validation, all your profile fields in our MySQL database and uploaded documents in Firebase Storage will be permanently purged within 7 business days.

13. Children's Privacy

College Sathi is designed strictly for university students and placement aspirants. The Platform is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover such data has been collected, we will take immediate steps to purge it.

14. International Data Transfers

Our databases and hosting instances are managed in secured cloud regions. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that your information may be processed on servers located outside your home territory, under standard data protection safety agreements.

15. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect shifts in our platform architecture or statutory compliance rules. When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" timestamp at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we safeguard your data.
